A.D. King, student trustee:

“My name’s A.D. King. I’m 21. I’m a junior here at IU. I’m a third generation Hoosier from a big IU family. I’ve been coming to Memorial Stadium to see IU play football and Assembly Hall to see basketball games since I was in a stroller. I really have a great passion for this place. I think it’s a very unique learning institution and it can change so many people’s lives.”

Dorothy Ige, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, IU Northwest:

“I celebrate Indiana University because I really believe in learning. It is your ticket to a better life. I know that from personal experience.”

Glenn Gass, professor of music, IU Bloomington:

“But the arts. My God, look where we are. You know, the Jacobs School of Music is world-class. Every school of music says, “We’re world-class.” But we are world-class. We are arguably the greatest school of music on the planet. And that’s amazing to me. So you can really excel here, obviously as a major, but you can be a minor and take courses—really great classes—in any type of music you want.”

Kimberly Muncie, student, IU South Bend:

“When I came to Indiana Unviersity, I didn’t think of myself as someone who was outgoing and driven and who wanted to get involved. I just came here and wanted to get my diploma and go out into the world. But as I got involved… the enthusiasm that the faculty and the administration showed, the involvement that they wanted from students, I wanted to be involved because I wanted to be a part of it. I wanted to be a part of IU.”

Ora Pescovitz, Interim Vice President for Research Administration:

“I think the thing that makes Indiana University such an incredibly vibrant community is the people. They come from every political background. They come from every religious background. And they all bring together these unique and diverse backgrounds and experiences to a common set of goals and missions. And in my mind there is hardly any other place on the planet that has that much vigor and energy and excitement.”

Joe Glover, Sports Information Director, IU Southeast:

“Indiana University has really been a great thing for me. I started at IU Bloomington. I transferred to IU Southeast, also to work here at the campus. I really get the feel of family all the way across the university when you look from Bloomington to Southeast, to Kokomo, to South Bend. It’s really a unique atmosphere. And it’s a really great thing for the state of Indiana. And if IU continues to do some of things we’ve done in the past, I think this university is going to continue to grow and expand and just be even better for the future of Indiana.”
